A Case of Nodular Fasciitis

Abstract
Nodular fasciitis is rare and benign fibroblastic proliferative disease which tends to tends to be confused microscopically with spindle cell sarcoma. Therefore, it is now well accepted its importnace by surgeons an pathologists. But is has not
become
well known to dermatologists, and this disease has been seldom reported and described in Korean dermatologic literature.
We present a case of nodular fasciitis in 34-year-old female with solitary hard nodule on right forearm 10 days prior to her first visit. She reported no pain and tenderness and there was no history of trauma at the lesion site. The histologic
examination revealed the nodule infiltrated into the subcutaneous fibrous septa showing serrated appearance. The nodule consisted of pleomorphic numerous fibroblasts and highly vascularized myxoid stroma. The fibroblasts were plump with abundant
pale
cytoplasms, small nucleoli, and diffusely lightly staining nuclei of chromatin pattern with mitotic activity. We excised nodule and no new nodule was developed either at the orginal lesion site or elsewhere on the body.
